Games Coming Out In January 2011 For PC by Honorabili

Great! Finally some games I have been looking forward to are coming out! This 2011 *might* be a good year!

DC Universe Online, January 11 2011

This MMO might be really fun based on all the teasers and videos I saw of developers giving us details about it, but let’s see how it really is when it is live. I’ll probably wait for my friends to get this (Umar, ahem) and tell me how shitty or great it is. Still, it looks fun, so it might be worth it for you if you love the DC Universe, even if the game is just okay. I actually got excited about this one when the first teasers leaked and I don’t care too much about most MMOs that come out.

Venetica, January 11 2011

Something about this game, just based on the trailer makes me think it probably won’t do that well unless it has something really unique to it.

Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny, January 12 2011

These RPG-RTS games are pretty good. Although this expansion is not made by Phenomic who make one of my favorite games Battleforge, this is still made by Jowood who makes a ton of sleeper games that are actually very, very good.

Deadspace 2, January 25 2011

The first Deadspace was scary and brilliant. It was the total spiritually real successor to System Shock 2. Although Bioshock copies its formula every single freaking time from System Shock 2, Deadspace actually added a whole new level of horror and gruesomeness to the desolation and hopelessness of being stuck alone in a ship full of raving things that want to kill you, chop you up into a thousand pieces, and eat you.

Two Worlds 2, January 25 2011

Part one for Two Worlds was a fun game, although many people said it was pretty generic. I found the combat in the first one actually a LOT more fun than Oblivion, a game a lot of people always compare this one to. Yeah, it was generic but if the gameplay is fun, what’s the problem? Let’s see if Two Worlds 2 caters more to the hipster fanboys that hated the first one. ;]

System Shock 2 Music

“Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?” That chilling line from SHODAN sums up the entire gaming experience that is System Shock 2. The soundtrack for System Shock 2 does an amazing job creating a state of panic and despair as you fight your way surviving in a maze of two very, very dead spaceships. It’s here now for you to enjoy!

Think of System Shock 2 as the grandfather of the modern day horror science-fiction video game. Sure, there is Aliens vs Predator BUT System Shock 2 has the winning single player horror science-fiction experience that became the winning formula for most games of this genre. The Bioshock games are spooky and they follow the formula to the detail. Dead Space follows System Shock 2 even better and is even scarier, I think. Still, none of these games would have been possible without System Shock 2!

System Shock 2 is very similar to the movie Event Horizon. Some experimental spaceship was supposed to jump in space to another part in space to pioneer faster than light travel. Of course, everything went wrong and now that ship is pretty much HELL. You’re trapped alone (because everything else on the ship is there to kill you or mess with your head) and you must fight your way through hallways of infected crew members, psionic monkeys, killer robots, turrets, and more. Along the way you upgrade yourself, as you’re a cybernetic hacker, not just by picking up better weapons but also by leveling up by getting better parts for yourself that give you different abilities (like the games I mentioned before copied, along with Deus Ex). You’ll have to play the game to find out who the hell SHODAN is… I won’t ruin it for you.

Enough about the game, let’s talk about the music. Now that you know the setting of this brilliant classic game, you can sit down and enjoy the ambience and techno harshness of this amazing soundtrack. Many of the songs are pretty spooky electronic music and some verge on the limit of techno and electronic rock. One thing the System Shock 2 soundtrack does is that it always creates an atmosphere that will not let you relax and that’s the only way to feel if you intend to make it out of the Von Braun alive… the music fits the game perfectly not just with the atmosphere of these doomed ships but also with the nature of the main character, a desperate man running the dreadful hallways of the Von Braun, fighting for his life.

POD: BioShock Infinite

Today we bring you not only two high res screenshots from the upcoming BioShock  Infinite, but the debut trailer as well. 2K and Irrational games takes you out of the water and into the skies to a city called Columbia. It is 1912 and the city was to be a shining symbol of American pride and power, but of course something went horribly wrong.

The city disappears into the clouds and you, playing the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt are sent to the city to rescue a young woman, Elizabeth who has been imprisoned there since childhood. When you find her the two of you have to make your way out which won’t be easy thanks to a ton of crazy citizens. Luckily the lady you recued has abilities which you will need not only to augment with your own, but to help you fight off the horde of baddies indoors and out including high-speed sky-line combat.

Games Coming Out June 2010 for PC

Games Coming Out June 2010 for PC by Honorabili

May was pretty weak when it came to game releases. June looks like a much better month.

Alpha Protocol the Espionage RPG, June 1

Typical Tom Clancy style of storyline game but let’s see how they pull off mixing a stealth game with an RPG. So long as my guy can still be seen when standing in front of the enemies it won’t be ruined.

The Sims 3 Ambitions Expansion Pack, June 1

Expansion pack for Sims 3 which adds jobs including Firefighter, Fashionista, Infamous Inventor, Defiant Detective, Shameless Scultor, Doctor, Ghost Hunter, and more.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, June 8

It’s obvious that this game will come out, considering the live-action movie for Prince of Persia is also coming out around this time.

Transformers: War For Cybertron, June 22

This looks like a really well made mod for Unreal Tournament 3 based on Transformers. If you can handle fast FPSs it would probably be worth checking out.

Darksiders, June 24

This looks like a God of War clone based on you taking on the role of War from the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior, June 24

Looks like it could be fun if you like blowing people’s heads off with a rifle some distance away. Just always concerned as to how a sniper will keep running away after the mission is a success or a failure. I really enjoyed how hard it was to do in that in the campaign mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1. Let’s see if they can pull of a whole game based on that.

All Points Bulletin, June 29

Think of Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row mixed together with an online persistent world MMO with no subscription fee and that’s what this game is. We’ll see how it does. Guild Wars has done really well with that business model.

Note: This game has nothing to with APB, the 80s cop driving/shooting arcade game.

Singularity, June 29

This game looks like a mix of Bioshock with STALKER. The character seems to have godlike powers such as rewinding time and recreating matter from nothing. It could be good. STALKER is too hard and realistic for most people. If they could add the action aspect without the stupid picking up audio tapes aspect of Bioshock, this game could be a winner.

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead, June 29

This is a standalone game expansion based on ArmA II which does not require it to play. This is an fps and action simulator game with an improved strategic aspect to the fighting over the typical killfest of other similar games (Modern Warfare, etc.).

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, June 29

A must for fans of Harry Potter and these series of LEGO based games.
