Star Raiders was one of the first 1st person space flight sims and I’m sure influenced a generation of space flight combat games since. The game was brilliant in its presentation at the time because if felt so ahead graphically than anything else available on the console.

This was one of the first games I played where you were given the freedom to experiment with your surroundings and think ‘outside of the box’. These actions often lead to humorous outcomes and commentary from the game’s characters, and LucasArts ability to poke fun at themselves never got old. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was released to arcades in 1985 and was based on the movie. This was the second game released and seeing how it played I have to track down the first. It was the first Atari arcade game to use digitized speech, but it sounded worst that my old Texas Interments learning computer that would yell at me for taking too long to solve a math problem (Your Turn!).

Myself, I find this game fun and I often wonder to what level I can get to the next time I play. Considering I’ve played this game thousands of times since the 80s and I still play it, the game is a classic and very replayable. I give replayability a score of 9 out of 10.
