The Obsolete Gamer Show: Rick Delano (The Principle)

We welcome Rick Delano producer of the documentary film, The Principle to the Obsolete Gamer Show. His film seeks to debunk the Copernican principle and if you are wondering what that it don’t feel bad, I had forgotten as well.. This was a departure from our normal interviews on OGS, but we all love film and science and when we heard this had some controversy as well we just had to check this out.

First the general Copernican principle is that earth is not in any specially favored or central location in the universe. We are just a blue marble in a big giant playground. The film attempts to prove that earth is not only special but the center of the universe. As you can guess there are competing sides on this and for the most part it ends up becoming a battle of science vs. religion with science being on the we are not the center side and religion being on the we are the center side.

Now the film itself it very well done. Even if you do not know anything about astronomy the documentary takes you through the history of scientific and religious discovery and history and it provides viewpoints from prominent scientists in their fields. There was controversy because some of the scientists interviewed claimed they were misled about the subject matter and I brought this up in the interview. The audio and visuals were well done and put together regardless of what you think of the subject matter and while it definitely is pushing a specific point it does feature opposing points as well.

In the interview I try to focus more on how the general public absorbed the film and the ideas and viewpoints it made. When looking at the reviews and comments for the film you saw a lot of attacks and hate for each side. Being an atheist myself, I may not believe in God, but I also not believe in attacking those who do. It was interesting to get Mr. Delano’s viewpoints on how others reacted to his film and the idea of earth being the center of the universe and the impact that would have on daily life.

One should watch documentaries to expand their mind and even if you find you do not agree with the premise or the result you still learned something along the way. I certainly learned something watching The Principle and in my interview with Rick Delano. So check out our interview and let us know what you think and you check out the film here.

Formula Fusion: Quick Race Atlas Torres 2nd Place

Formula Fusion is a game that’s the spiritual successor to games like the Wipeout series and also the F-Zero series. Here is my first time playing the track Atlas Torres in Quick Race. I only got 2nd Place.

League of Legends ARAM: Surrender to Sona Victory

In this League of Legends ARAM match, I stated out with a quick yolo death trying to help out with an early push but after that we got things rolling and pretty much dominated the rest of the match until they surrendered a little before we reached their core.

World of Warplanes: First Battle In My XF-90 3519 Base XP

I decided to buy the XF-90 as my first tier 10. As this game shows, it was a smart decision! The XF-90 has enough thrust and firepower to basically do any role, especially high altitude engagements.

Riff Racer (Drive Any Track): FLEXX – Wake Up!

Riff Racer (Drive Any Track) is a game similar to Beat Hazard and Audiosurf that lets you play with your music. It creates a track based on a song from your music library.

In this video I race to Wake Up! by FLEXX. It’s a 2 star difficulty track. I was using the car Monaco.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Afterbirth) – Giant Lazer Man (Isaac Playhrough)

In this playthrough of Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Afterbirth), I play as Isaac and build him to be a huge giant with the super lazer eyes. Fun Fun Fun! 🙂

Riff Racer (Drive Any Track): A-Ha – Take On Me (extended version)

Drive Any Track is a game similar to Beat Hazard and Audiosurf that let’s you play with your music. It creates a track based on a song from your music library.

In this video I race to the extended version of Take On Me by A-Ha. It is quite simply one of the hardest songs I’ve ever raced in this game (4 out of 5 stars in difficulty).

Track was played using the car Inferno.

Sausage Party Preview

You ever have one of those days where everything is planned out perfectly or so you thought, but then when the moment is done there was one little thing you missed that derailed everything. This is what occurred in what was my fantastic interview with directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan on their latest film Sausage Party.

(They were so cool, we’re so sorry we couldn’t fix this)

The raunchy adult animated comedy shows us the lives of food at your local supermarket and what happens when their dreams of being taken to someone’s home turns into a nightmare. My nightmare began after having a great discussion with Mr. Conrad and Tiernan about various subjects only to find out we had a serious technical issue which made the audio unusable. It was pretty much like seeing your fellow grocery store friends being butchered to death like in the films trailer.

Sausage Party 1

Sausage Party was a 10-year endeavor with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg among many others working to get the film made. While there have been other R-rated animated films before it, it is still considered a new frontier. However, Rotten Tomato’s currently gives Sausage Party high marks and with movie goers asking for more mature rated features after the success of films like Deadpool, the time is right for a comedy such as Sausage Party.

sausage party 2

The voice list features a ton a talent including Michael Cera, James Franco, Salma Hayek, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Edward Norton, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Kristen Wiig.  The animation style looks smooth and bright and the unrated trailer and leaks about a food orgy just makes me want to check it out more.

So while I was hoping for a cool video to post for you guys and gals at least you know there is a good movie to be seen here. Check out the trailer and then go see the film that is out in theaters now.

Rush Bros: Kool Moe Dee – I Go To Work

A quick run through of a level of Rush Bros to the music track of, I go to work by Kool Moe Dee.

Rush Bros is a music reactive Platform Racing Game that features a single player and a competitive multiplayer either split-screen local or online between two simultaneous racers.

Riff Racer (Drive Any Track): Ace of Base – Tokyo Girl

Drive Any Track is a game similar to Beat Hazard and Audiosurf that let’s you play with your music. It creates a track based on a song from your music library.

In this video I race to the excellent song by Ace of Base called Tokyo Girl. This is a 3 star difficulty track.

Track was played using the car Inferno.

Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast: Ferrari Enzo, ultimate difficulty, Magic Sound Shower (Euro Remix)

Although this game is not very realistic it’s still one of my favorite racing games.

In this video I’m playing the standard Outrun arcade mode on the max difficulty using the highest tier car in the game.

The song that’s playing in the background is Magical Sound Shower (Euro Remix).

You dont get the show #7: WTF is with this show

We try to have a blueprint for the show even when that blueprint is disturbing, but when we don’t have one things go off the rails as you will see in our latest episode.

We have a special guest host alongside J.A. and Ignacio. We welcome Xexeb the faceless wonder to the show where topics range from sex at the Rio Olympics to how bad we expect the Division movie to be.

Come watch the train wreck!

Let’s Play World of Warships: Murmansk – You gotta earn that win, son

In this match, Greenteam, Draconiso, and I earn this win. It looked really bad all match but we ended up doing it. The lesson to be learned is to never give up hope in battle. Keep a cool head and victory is possible.

Super Hornio Brothers vs Strokemon

Did you know there is a adult parody for almost anything that is popular? We found that our in this story of Nintendo purchasing the rights to Super Hornio Brothers after the Super Mario Bros movie bombed in the theaters and while doing so Randy informed J.A. about the Pokemon adult parody called Strokemon.

Billy Mitchell: You play Pac Man?

We all know who Billy Mitchell is especially if you love classic games, but sometimes you can know somebody and get the reason you know them just a little bit wrong as Billy explains in this clip from our Q&A event at the Florida Film Festival for Man vs. Snake: The Long and Twisted Tale of Nibbler.

World of Warships: Why you should always kill destroyers ASAP in every game

This video basically shows why you should kill most destroyers as soon as humanly possible in every game you play. The replay is provided by my friend Diode_mA (Diode Milliampere). He basically goes straight for the enemy base and one-shots with his entire torpedo barrage an enemy battleship of a higher tier. He then proceeds to cap the enemy base with the enemy team doing little to stop him. GG!!!

People don’t realize how important base defense is. I blame the enemy destroyers and especially cruisers for costing their team the game.

If you enjoy this game you can download and play for free from: http://worldofwarships.com/

World of Warplanes: F2H, 7 Kills, 5036 Base XP Record

The thrust to weight ratio and long range shooting cannons of the F2H make it a personal favorite of mine. I break my personal Base XP record in this match. Enjoy!

You dont get the show #6: Damn, Video Gamers are violent!

This week we look at video games and violence with three stories where violence just doesn’t belong. First we got a Pokémon Go player who goes Pokémon hunting in the wrong neighborhood and finds the wrong kind of Blastoise. Next, we travel to South Korea where a disgruntled gamer goes Carmageddon on Nexon headquarters and finally to California where a Heroes of the Storm keyboard warrior goes full terrorist complete with an AK47 and ends up in FBI custody. You better get this show.
