Question of the Week : What do you collect? And why?

Every week the ObscureInternet Forum ponders a Question of the Week, this week it is What do you collect? And why?

Mick

receipts from our lasses spending spree’s

Mojo

French singers….ongoing project with intentions of dragging French music away from inexplicable addiction to Johnny Hallyday!

Crag

I collect computer bits, whenever there’s a useful part hanging around spare I’ll pick it up and keep hold. I’ve now got a mighty collection and always have something useful if someone needs a computer fixing or repairing.

Hansisland

Magnets. Lots of magnets…. If I come to visit make sure you don;t have any harddisks lying about, because I’ll break it open and nick the magnet inside…

When I have enough magnets I’m going to glue them all together and then point the thing at Mars… Mars is made of rusty metal and will come closer to the earth. The money saved on the space programme (Richard Bransons) could then adequately pay for wider seats in his sodding trains – and possibly repair all the faulty earphone sockets as well….

But serioulsy… I collect magents out of harddisks…. they’re quite dangerous (pliers and work gloves required when messing with them)….

GLeN

I think everyone knows what I colllected, however for those you do not, I will leave a little clue below;

Bill Wood Rocks – Me and You

The purpose of this wee dittie was to make sure I still had "it". Obviously "it" is a subjective article and I can say without prejudice or (more importantly) any justification whatsoever that I do, in fact, still have "it".

However this would be a very short song description where I not to continue, so I shall point out that with this song I wanted to see if I could compose, arrange, layer and produce a song in one day. So I picked up my guitar, composed the opening riff, and finished up with what you are hearing below about 2.5 hours later. So, yes. It's hardly Bohehiam Rhapsody and it's far from Slaughtered Authors, but an up front honest love/punk song it is, and considering there was less than a ninth of a day between its conception and its immortalisation, (and that there is only the one Bill Wood in Bill Wood Rocks) I'm fairly happy that I do still possess "it".

I still can't sing though. Happy to have someone, anyone, sing and re-record all of this, and my back catalogue, in my stead. Any… professor… types out there?

Question of the Week : What should you be giving up for lent?

Every week the ObscureInternet Forum ponders a Question of the Week, this week it is What should you be giving up for lent?

Crag

I should be giving up working, it’d be sodding great to have a nice holiday courtesy of a religon I don’t believe in.

Mick

Lent

Chojin

I should be giving up some of my free time to start packing my stuff.

Lazarus

I’m giving up pretending to be Barry Scott from Cillit Bang fame. Our lass is fucking sick of being woken up in the middle of the night by me screaming

“Hi, I’m Barry Scott”

Cicada Familiar

I am giving up junk food. I have just seen an advert for Nestlé Kit-Kat in dark chocolate. Not Happy. Want one. Double torment (have also boycotted Nestlé as they are evil dudes).

Bill Wood Rocks – Lately

Men (or women) have two choices when selecting a partner of the opposite (or same – but that would be gay) sex. That is, firstly, do you go for a woman (or man) with a mind of his (or her) own, with actual opinions (right or wrong) that have been formed through their own deliberation rather than lent by some bogus third party opinion provider? Or, secondly, do you go with a woman (or man) with opinions borrowed from some bogus third party opinion provider rather than one who possesses actual opinions formed from their own personal deliberation?

OK, so the vast majority of you, and rightly so, would go with the latter. I know I would. Except, and almost without exception, I do not. And sadly the problem with other people with opinions, especially when they tend to be your girlfriend (or boyfriend), is that you can be damn sure that their opinion tends to be correct. That is to say, one is often wrong, and never more so than when one aspires to the contrary.
You see, that’s the problem with having your own mind. It makes you want to be with other people who also have their own mind. And that is when problems start to occur.

Lately is a song about having to come to terms with that fact that you don’t always have to hold the reigns in a relationship and that sometimes, just sometimes, you can let the other person also lead the way. And sometimes being out of control can be a heady experience. The song charts a realisation, from confused despair to happy acceptance, that going with the flow can often be better than directing it.

It also has a great bass riff.

My singing sucks.

Question of the Week : On what do you spend too much money?

Every week the ObscureInternet Forum ponders a Question of the Week, this week it is On what do you spend too much money?

Scribbler

Music. Beer. Transport to and from work. Takeaways.

Mick

Coming home to find the front door wide open, that was easily the scariest thing ever to happen to me. Turned out it was just the wind that had blown it open after it not being closed properly but to think someone could still be in your house. Not nice stuff.

Crag

I guess my computer, I always seem to be buying something for it.

Nic

Wine……

Bill

xbox 360 games
beer
drugs
eating/going out
petrol
musical equipment
hookers
self help guides to limiting my expenditure

Chojin

My car but I see that as necessary expenditure so not really wasted money.

I’ll go with games, probably bought 30+ full priced games last year at £40 ish a pop I sell them on but even so its a lot for me when Im on a shite wage.

GLeN

Probably the computer, but I don’t splurg that often now.

KiLotr

mc donalds, hungry jacks… too much… luckily im not a fat guy… yet
