On Friday, March 14th from 6PM to 1AM PST you can watch Twin Galaxies video game trading card members and Mario Bros champions, Steven Kleisath and Stephen Boyer go head to head live to see who can get the most points in the classic arcade game, the original, Mario Bros.

Feel like throwing a tantrum, there’s a Game for that

This is the game. You have various scenarios like Dad and the Kids, Bride at a Wedding and one of my favorites, Frustrated Office Worker. So you can pound on the table and knock things off the shelves and cause damage which not only sets a very bad precedent but scores you points. As the timer runs down you grab the table and flip it. Well, not really since it’s attached to the machine, but the feeling of tossing over a table is there.

Super Mario Bros Crossover

So the game plays just like the original NES game, but as you can see in the trailer, the characters and levels are different such as being able to play as Ryu and Link and using special abilities from the different characters. The overall goal is the same, you go from left to right making your way through the worlds and defeating the enemies until you get to the fourth level of each world where you face Bowser. Now the levels have been tweaked and changed since different characters have different abilities to add more challenge and re-playability to the game.

Would you buy: N64 USB Controller

Personally, I did not love the N64 controller, I know a bunch of people that did but the original SNES controller felt so perfect to me that the button placement, the size and analog stick just felt, well it felt wrong. Now obviously this was just my personal opinion and later controllers, especially the Xbox control looks like took a page from the N64 and PSOne controller, but in the end, it looks as if this design along with the SNES was like a gold standard for controllers since the original Atari joystick.

Defending Charity

Josh posted regular score updates to both the event page for the Defender charity run as well as his own profile. A little after noon, Billy passed the 4 million point mark. A little more than an hour and a half later, he hit 5.66 million. By 10:22 p.m. he passed 15 million points and was still going strong. At 2:17 a.m. Nov. 17, he had achieved 19 million points and by 10:10 a.m. he was at 26.5 million points. Billy continued playing, averaging over a million an hour. At 4:09 p.m., Billy was at 32 million, but then something happened – fatigue set in.

1 Quarter Run: WWF Wrestlefest

My first entry is WWF Wrestlefest. I had done a text review of its predecessor, WWF Superstars, some years back. However, it was THIS game that TRULY set the standard for great wrestling games during an era when wrestling games had a hard enough time being “good.”

Retro Gaming: Brasil

During my stay in Sao Paulo Brasil my wife and I made a stop at Bubsy Games. Retro gaming stores are sometimes hard to come by and I am very glad there are still a few around. Every time I’m in Sao Paulo I make sure to stop by Bubsy Games. I ended up trading some games with them and always enjoy stopping by.

Nintendo Museum Exhibition

The company history page on Nintendo’s US website even starts in 1985, with the NES! Completely skipping the first hundred year since the company started in 1889. A period, admittedly, when the focus was primarily on the Japanese home market. For that matter, the Japanese site shows the full history, but with very short statements only and without any illustrations.

The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time

From the moment I sat down to watch ‘The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time’, I did not move nor blink (that may be a slight exaggeration) until the last credit was shown. Whether you are familiar with the arcade machines or not, this film is for anyone that has a nostalgic bone in their body, or would just like to find out what makes serious collectors tick.

Super Mario: Bounce to This

Most of the time a cool video we find online we will just share on our social media pages, but since this is Mario and it is so awesome we felt it deserved a place in our archives. Honestly, I am not sure how this was made or by whom, but it is quite awesome to watch and listen to so enjoy.

Super Mario 64 beaten in 7 minutes

Spoiler alert this video contains the use of glitching obviously to get past 99% of the levels, but still as said in the Youtube comments, watching this made me cry for all the days, weeks and months I spent beating the game originally. Don’t get me wrong, I rather beat it legit then cheat, but watching this killed my childhood just a little.

Modern and Retro Gaming at Florida Supercon 2013

Last but not least we found another retro gaming heaven within heaven itself. To the left of Origin PC and across from the console gaming tournaments we found a table featuring a ton of incredible classic games from NES up to N64. You could pick out any game you wanted and play it on one of the many television screens and console systems setup behind the table. I saw people playing Mario Cart, Strider and an awesome game of Smash Bros.

Stealth Mobile Gaming: Florida Supercon 2013

I walked around and found more classic gaming consoles where you could play games like Street Fighter vs. X-Men, Mario Cart and more. I had a chance to talk with the owner and found out his company is called Stealth Mobile Gaming. They not only do events, but they will come to your party or home and setup a sweet gaming station with console games of your choice like the Xbox, PS3 or Wii as well as classic consoles as well like the NES, Genesis and N64.

My Favorite Level: Sonic 3 Hydrocity

Now I love both zones, but my favorite is act 2 mainly because of the water slides. On some of the slides you just use your own speed to go up or down them and others have spinning platforms. On these platforms a hand comes out and you speed up and go rocketing up the slide, just watch out for the shark/missile looking enemies. I can’t talk enough about the slides and if you time it right you can spend a good amount of the level on these slides that spin and twist and take you pretty much all the way to the boss.
