Obsolete Gamer: 2 Years of Awesome

OGBanner

Has it already been two years? Yes, unlike most marriages Obsolete Gamer is still going strong and plans to for many many more years. We began this site to talk about classic gaming because there are a lot of good sites out there, but too many go under or stop updating after a few months. We also wanted a place to post and talk about things we cared about and in our way and it has been a complete success and we own that to you the fans.

My first article for OG was on Sonic 2 and from there we knew if we kept going more and more fans would come and they did. We invented Gamer Profiles where we asked people in the industry what their favorite game was and why and we started with another brand new company called Origin PC and from there added hundreds of profiles and we have many more to add in the near future.

We wanted to interview people and we had the opportunity to talk and meet with many awesome people including our exclusive onsite interview with Alienware co-founder Alex Aguila. Even though we began as a classic gaming site we wanted to talk about everything and was able to bring you question and answer sessions from upcoming and top MMO’s like, Tera Online, Rift and World of Tanks. We even had our war with SOE and Jimmy Kimmel.

Our staff has always remains pretty small, but we had a lot of great writers lend their talents to our site and that allowed us to bring you even more classic gaming articles, but little did we know our staff writer Umar Khan would become so famous with his flame induced editorials that got us a lot of hate and we loved it all.

There was more work to be done so we began The Obsolete Gamer show; our own podcast ran out of WDNA in Miami. We recorded several episodes and began with a normal format with news and interviews and then went more shock jock talking about anything and everything about dating including finding a date as a gamer and sex while gaming.

One of our biggest hits Fappathon came from a joke about posting women in gaming outfits and it turned into a hit and now we are one of the top sites for video game cosplay. Who would have thunk it?

Being part of Obsolete Gamer has been a highlight of my life. I have been able to go many places like E3, CES and meet many cool people like William Volk and Jace Hall. We continue to build relationships and meet new people we can bring to you, the fans of Obsolete Gamer.

We aren’t going anywhere and we keep on growing and we hope you will continue reading, watching and listening because we have a ton of great stuff to bring you coming soon.

Thank you for this rollercoaster ride of classic gaming fun.
