Odallus -The Dark Call

Odallus:The Dark Call

The idea of mixing exploration and action is always interesting. In some games like Allen Wake, it did not work so well running to collect book pages while trying to avoid being killed. However, in Odallus we are promised to be treated to intense battles not made for wussies while still maintaining an exploration based experience.

Three reasons to love New Super Mario Bros 2

There is plenty of longevity in New Super Mario Bros. 2 itself that will keep you entertained, but the fact that Nintendo has also made even more course packs available to download gives it an extra level of value for money that is difficult to ignore. These are designed to build on the coin target challenges of the title and can be played again and again until you have truly mastered them. It’s been a busy year not only for Nintendo but for Mario himself. Not only has the platform legend popped up in a new adventure on Nintendo 3Ds and Nintendo 3DS XL, but he’ll also be helping to launch the upcoming Wii U in New Super Mario Bros. U. Let’s hope he’s up to the challenge!

Endless runner games are very popular at the moment, especially on mobile devices. As they seem to be very sutied to the format but still provide a fast arcade like gaming experience. Ristar: Free on Dotemu

Now I played this back in the day and loved the style. The game really excels in its soundtrack that features catchy tunes and themes and the boss music is pretty awesome as well. Most of the game involves jumping, swinging and bashing enemies’ against your head as you make your way towards the boss. However, Ristar features a lot of cool puzzles and secret areas to discovery and there is real strategy involved in the gameplay. With the DotEmu package you can choose to play in windowed mode or full screen with several resolution options so it will play on pretty much any system. Like emulators, you can save the game at any point which is a pretty awesome feature. The game plays just like the original and you can use keyboard controls or connect a joystick. I use the Xbox 360 controller which was automatically detected by the program.

Fans, Get Ready for Spec Ops: The Line

The first two games released in the 90s, Spec Ops: Rangers Lead the Way and Spec Ops: Ranger Team Bravo, were well-received and won plenty of fans. The latest version has voice work by Nolan North who has featured as many different characters over the years including Dead Pool in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Nathan Drake in Uncharted and Desmond in the Assassin’s Creed series. He is a charismatic voice actor who lends a lot of believability to the character of Captain Martin Walker.

pathologic

Pathologic: The Demo

Pathologic is a game with a pretty interesting official site. Then again, it also is a breathtakingly unique game developed in Russia and one best described in this Eurogamer review. As for me and Pathologic, well, I’ve been playing it for quite some time now and the only thing I can compare it to is Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in the US). Thus, I’m in awe. Quite confused too. Think I might try writing a review or a something on it someday.
